NikpV Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I wonder we ought to implement that idea about keeping a list of those with vag-com who would be prepared to read codes for others. I reckon we would needForum nameLocationdistance prepared to travelpayment (if any) e.g bottle of plonk ..whether its a registered version (affects functionality) could then pm the member for arrangements - have to work out something for trainees though, what do you all think? Taz69 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Hi all, thats a nice idea about the VAG-Com owners, I have a Galaxy 2.3 Zetec 2000 V-reg, anyone near Bristol or Exeter wth VAG-com, I seem to have an issue at the moment with my choke/accelerator ?? When I accelerate and change gear, when the clutch is down my revs seem to rush upto 3200 rpm-ish then idle back down, any ideas ??? Also I see there something else called "freescan" will this talk to Ford engines ? anyone know. Thanks in advance Mark Quote
Guest wolfie Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I seem to have an issue at the moment with my choke/accelerator ?? When I accelerate and change gear, when the clutch is down my revs seem to rush upto 3200 rpm-ish then idle back down, any ideas ??? most common cause of idle related problems seem to be a sticking/gummed ISV! you can try cleaning it and see if that helps? flush it through with a drop of petrol or a good dose of carb cleaner and see how you get on? Guest Cepheus Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 VAGCOM won't talk to your engine's ECU unfortunately as it's a ford engine. VAGCOM only talks to VW/Audi group ECUs. It will still speak to other areas of your car though like ABS, etc. Quote
Taz69 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Thanks for the replies peeps, wolfie when you say ISV, can you enlighten me chap, only just got the Gal a few weeks ago, first week of driving her this week after flying thru the MOT, I do know about cars etc, just cant think what ISV stands for, IDLE --------------------- possibly, lol Thanks Mark Quote
Guest wolfie Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 ISV Idle Stabilisation Valve mounted on top of the inlet manifold, held in place by two bolts, diamond shape plate with a cylinder stuck on it on the end of the cylinder is a electrical plug  best description I can give ;) Quote
Taz69 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Thanks wolfie, will look further into it, see if there is a way of checking etc. This forum is great for advice, glad when I have had the Gal for a while so I can help others, Mark Quote
