When it clicks, do you get a succession of clicks or just one click?

If still no go with booster pack, sounds like starter motor sticking. If you can see the starter motor, try tapping it with a length of wood and a hammer whilst someone else turns the key. Bit crude I know but, sometimes works. Failing that you would have to remove it and bench test. Try booster pack first though to eliminate the battery.

I have this exact same problem!!

ARGH!

Did you find a solution to this?

I have this problem intermittantly which means everytime it goes to Ford they will not see the problem and so do nothing about it. I only just bought the car! :P

they are going to replace one of the relay's though. Once it started OK but the battery light on the dash remained on and the relay continued clicking very fast until I moved a few yards. then it stoppped clicking and the battery light went out.

When it doesn't start there is absolutely NO NOISE from the starter, just the relay clicking....sometimes the relay doesn't even click, just silence.

MIne did this and the starter had died , there was no warning it was fine one day then next day nothing , to prove it is your starter and not an electrical fault on the car , bypass the cars wiring and connect a battery direct to the starter and see if it turns over , you will need some 2 big cables and the switching cable to the starter .

Sounds like bad connection to me, disconnect battery and remove and clean leads on the starter motor and where the main earth is connected to the car, clean battery leads and replace.

If it it is still the same then it most likely is worn out starter brushes, they can be replaced or service exchange it.

Had this problem too, got battery checked and it only had 2% of its starting charge available, jump leads wont work if the battery is like this, got a new battery from motor factors for
