Guest Idris Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 right, have my ISO harness and also ordered a DAB unit to connect to my JVC head. In my previous car, I had to hack the wires to the JVC due to a bodge the previous owner made of the car. I dont want to hack the Galaxy wiring so I have ordered an ISO adapter for it in the hope that I can cut the ISO plugs off and then wire these directly to my JVC. However, whilst I know what each wire of the JVC does, Im not sure what each wire of the ISO harness is for - anyone have this information they could enlighten me with? Any info appreciated - thanks again for looking! Quote
Guest Idris Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 sorry - ignore me. Have just received the ISO adapter and all the wires have their function printed on them which is handy ... Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 I'd be interested to know how you get on with DAB in the car - and where abouts in the UK you travel with respect to DAB reception.Ivor. Quote
Guest Idris Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 sure - Im currently in Angus which has just had a transmitter turned on and quite often travel down the M6 to see the folks in Liverpool. I know reception will be non existent in Cumbria etc... but we'll see how we get on ... Quote
Dally Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Can anyone help with the following? 1) I have standard RNS4 sat nav. Does this use normal ISO connectors for the power and speaker connections? I can't have a look myself as the galaxy is at the garage at the moment plus I don't have any removal tools yet and I would like to purchase a bluetooth carkit that uses ISO connectors for sound through car speakers. 2) Where can I get a video adaptor from for an aux source on the RNS4 at a reasonable cost? I know Jakey (the expert on these matters) said it can be obtained but I contacted Car Electronics in Nottingham and Leicester - they qouted me over Quote
Guest Idris Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 more fun and games! Installed my JVC head, MP3 drive and DAB tuner over the weekend - everything worked fine although the DAB reception was patchy - I may need to invest in a proper DAB aerial!! However when driving home tonight, I started hearing crackles out of one speaker. Over ten seconds it got louder and then nothing at all - no sound whatsoever. The stereo is still on but no sound coming from the speakers. Thought it might be my wiring but when I refitted the old 2007R when I got home, still no sound ... so it would appear to me to be something to do with the amp. Could it have gone pop or is there a fuse somewhere specifically for the amplifier (cant see anything in my handbook) ... this car is starting to annoy me - everything seems to be going wrong and Ive only had it two weeks!!! Quote
Guest Idris Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 honest reply fredt, is that I dont know what power my HU pushes out - maybe I did zap the amp. If so, I think it would be better for me to just bypass it rather than replace it .... thanks for the info ... Quote
Guest Idris Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 fantastic - after a day at the local auto-electrician, he cannot find much wrong with it and doesnt want to take the dash apart to look further. Looks like I will have to take it elsewhere - anyone know how difficult it is to remove the amp from a Galaxy, and how easy it is to get direct access to the speaker wires? The auto guy was saying it is a big job, but surely there is a way of removing the amp easily? any info appreciated! thanks Quote
Guest siroccoman Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Dally. Firstly, sat nav unit DOES have standard ISO plugs on back for power and speakers. Radio removal keys are available at www.dashmount.co.uk, look for them under hands free car kits/radio removal keys. Also you can get a blue tooth kit and non damaging bracket from them. Video adapter, I have ordered mine via http://www.navisys.de/ under multimedia, site is in German, but use a translator (http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr) and you will find what you want (circa around 169 euros) cheaper than UK. Cant help with the armrests or how you get wires up seat though, sorry. Dave Quote
Dally Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 DaveThanks for the info. I have already purchased the removal keys from a local vw dealer, I have purchased an HCB-30 Bluetooth kit plus HCE-16 advanced music mute - just not had the time to fix them in yet. I only got my galaxy back last week with new auto box - I want to see if all the problems aree cured before I invest in anything els such as multimedia but thanks for the german contact. Let me know how you get on with the m/m adaptor from naviys when you get it. Quote
