Scope Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 There is a few things I would like to change with my Galaxy (2003, Zetec, 1.9TDI), are any of the following possible? 1) Change the distance the parking censor kicks in with a constant beep.. This is currently 30-40cm and I would like to know when I am close to the car in front/behind, not 30-40cm away.. 10-20cm would be ok. 2) I would like a beep or something when I lock the car with the remote (switching on the alarm), is this possible? At the moment I find myself going back to the car to ensure its actually locked. 3) Can you disable the beeps the car makes when you open the car while the engine if running? With small kids sleeping in the car its annoying if it beeps (warns you) every time you open a door. Thats it for now. Quote

Scope Posted January 18, 2007 Author Report Posted January 18, 2007 2) can get indicators to flash - as standard - sometimes missing on imports - can be enabled by wds 2000 and possibly vag-com The indicators do flash, but then again, so do they when you open the car.. So did I just open or close it? As you probably can tell I've just got the Galaxy, and I know I will get used to the position of the buttons on the key, but. Quote

Guest mcyoungy Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 I think I read somewhere that if you relock remotely within 2 seconds you disable the alarm. Could be total rubbish. Why oh why can't the indicators flash twice on locking and once on unlocking? Quote

Guest MATT jr Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 i dont think its possible to "activate" a beeb when locking/unlocking, although if you really wanted to - i bet you could make up your own circuit and wire it in! MJR Quote
tim-spam Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 On the Alhambra, there are no beeps when locking / unlocking, but the indicators flash once for locking, and twice for unlocking. There is no beep when you open a door with the engine running. Therefore, it may just be possible to re-programme a galaxy to do the same with VAGCOM. Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 OP is refering to a MK11 Galaxy - the MK1 flashes once for locking, twice for unlocking as you say Tim, with an extra flash when pressing the lock button again after locking to disable the interior sensors and deadlock the vehicle (where fitted) Quote
Dave-G Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 mine only beeps on opening the door... if my lights are on Quote

NikpV Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 well B*gger me  so it does - I've never noticed that before  Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 ...there must be a trigger wire somewhere - for the locking, , that a feed could be taken off - and put into a buzzer/circuit. im gonna upgrade my VAGCOM very soon - cos i want to adjust my parking sensors and mess with sum other stuff. will have a looksie for the beeb thing, but from the many hours of reading the forum, don think its activatable (new word :16: ) by vage MJR Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 In the mean time is the indicator flash thing only if the car is locked/unlocked with a remote key on a MK1?We couldn`t get our remote key to be recognised by the car so haven`t got remote locking......does that mean that no alarm is set if its locked with a key on the door? Mine only flash when activated by the remote key and not when using the key in the door. Using the key will still activate the immobiliser however. Very few MK1s had an OE alarm fitted - it was only standard fit on the Ultima model and optional on all others IIRC Quote
lazyb5 Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 i would love to be able to quiet down the beep when opening a door and now i`ve got vag com working any ideas guys or do i just put a piece of electrical tape over the beeper :) Quote
tim-spam Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 OP is refering to a MK11 Galaxy - the MK1 flashes once for locking, twice for unlocking as you say Tim, with an extra flash when pressing the lock button again after locking to disable the interior sensors and deadlock the vehicle (where fitted)Mine's a Mk II. The buzzer on mine sounds when the headlights are on, door open and engine off. If the engine's running, there is no buzzer with the doors open. On mine, the deadlock and alarm is activated by the first push of the lock button, and de-activated if the button is immediately pushed again. Quote
tim-spam Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Sorry, I meant that the alarm is deactivated on the second push - car remains deadlocked. Quote
