NikpV Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 for the pd engines - all mk2 tdis afaik Ford Formula SDMillers XFE PDQuantum PD there are many with the correct viscosity but must meet vw505.01 spec - this can be a problem for some dealers since they think it comes in the big drum out of the back or in the correct viscosity containers they have a lot of - Some here are religious about this - sometghing to do with the very high pressures in the pd engine Quote
NikpV Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 When I have the oil done at the dealer I ask for the other 0.5l (from the 5l) in the container for top ups between services - it also focuses their minds on not overfilling the engine - worth checking on the forecourt before driving off. Guest gooner52 Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 fords overfilled my galaxy on its 1st service told them i would not take the car till they sorted it.. which they did in the end, this was after asking them before the service,to make sure they dont overfill  Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 at our last service - they put the complete wrong oil in! you have to keep your eyes on things! MJR ^_^ Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Yep mine was overfilled by about a litre ..... as suggested, check it on the forecourt before you drive off Quote
Sanctus Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Hello folks, I had Castrol 5w-40 from the previous owner (in Germany), but today during a kind of delayed service they filled in 5w-30... They explained it is normal because of different temperatures  Will I survive or I should not trust them anymore? I got good references about them, but it's a general "free" garage. Thanks for any answer, 'cause it's my first Ford and first Diesel, so I feel freshman again :) And yes, I watched for the correct level - here they tend to make it fast and over, too. Quote
