I would be most grateful if you experts out there could tell me what had

gone wrong with my aux belt or tensioner pulley or ??.

Can anyone tell me how to fix it. My car has a squeaking noise every now and then.

I thought pictures are better than words.

Many thanks 4 looking.

Wow, looks to me as though the tensioner wheel is out of line with the belt. I'm not going to give you a solution... because I am a car dumbass. Just thought I would get the conversation going on here. By the way.... what's the paint brush for? Something we need to know about? :)

Hi Lim,

The shaft that holds your tensioner wheel is obviously working its way out of its housing. This shaft is secured in place by a bolt at the other end. It appers to me that the bolt has either come loose, snapped or maybe the shaft is broken. You need to be looking further at the back of the housing. If you remove your ribbed belt the tensioner will probably come all the way out of its housing. Look at the diagram, the bolt I am referring to is Item 11.

Thank you, thank you, Littledaz,

I must admit I'm a bit of a mechanical dumb dumb,

But I am learning, the diagram was brillant! I shall go and take the engine cover off now(not sure even I can do that),

and investigated the other end. Will return with the result.

Oh,about the "paint brush"...a few days ago, just about to set off for work, realised the belt had

slipped off the wheel, panic, panic! in my attempt to push the belt back on with anything I can I hold off, ie. the brush.

and guess what, I dropped it,arggggggg.

thanks again m8.

You are right, the bolt(item11) you mentioned had came off.

I removed it, cleaned it..,

I was lucky I found a screw(item11) that fitted.

It was quite difficult to put it back(item8), as it was under tension, with a lot of force

I managed to screwed it back on, and then the rain came...

The aux belt is very tight, I have no idea what tension it should be,

but it seemed very tight to me. Any idea?? The car started up fine, NO SQUEAKING !!,

and idled at just over 800rev. instead of over 1000rev. before. wow..I am so pleased.

Many thanks to you all.

If I seemed OTT on pix, I sorry. With my limited knowledge I have not posted

before. You guys have help me fixed my wipers and link rods problems which

I would never attempted otherwise. Garages had always taken me for a ride,

this forum has saved me hundreds of pounds. I hope my little contribution will be

of help to someone.

Best wishes.
