I have seen info on the forum regarding this but now can't find it using the Search facility so........has anyone found a facia adaptor to fit a standard DIN size CD player instead of the square cornered 4050?

There was a post I saw about the Ford facia adaptor, but having bought one I've found it has the rounded top corners of the earlier Ford steros.

Any ideas or info greatly appreciated.

gooner....that one has the rounded top corners...how does it look fitted? What colour dash is it sitting in? Mine is silver and I'm concerned that those corners will look crap when it's in.

Any idea on brand/where you got it from? Looks like I'm going to be stuck with one that shape as I can't find one that fits properly.

Very fed up with this at the mo!!

cheers gooner. I saw one on ebay this morning.....off to Halfrauds in a minute to see what they advertise but don't stock, then may have to succumb to ebay. Really wanted it sorted over the weekend, but hey ho.

I have the standard fascia blank which i bought for my Focus. I don't think it looks that bad but, I think this is what you've already got. See what you think. Searched for ages and could not find anything for the Galaxy. Would be interested in any other solutions though. Did have the one gooner52 had but preferred the standard blank. Sorry gooner

You know that doesn't look as bad as I'd imagined - cheers. Still think it would be nice if Ford made one to fit properly though!! CD player is in and working lovely - will pick up the blank from Stealer tomorrow.

when you remove the OE unit there is a yellow plug on the back, with one wire to it. Any idea what it's for?

the single wire IIRC is for the auto volume control

If I remember correctly, it is the speed related volume control. As your car speed increases, the volume increases to combat the extra road noise. This function will probably not work on the unit you are going to fit. Just leave it disconnected, I did.
