Guest MATT jr Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 the screen is in and all. just got solder some switches and a relay, wire it in, solder all the joints up behind the radio, then install some software on the laptop, and then try the satnav, as im a little worried about the antenna not getting a signal through the metal roof. then its finished -- got a load of refinements to do tho! im not happy with how the screen is mounted - so im gonna change that as soon as i can get hold of a top centre pocket. Guest gooner52 Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 sounds good mat i still keeping a look out for a centre pocket for you btw  Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 thanks james, when iv got time, i will give ford parts a ring, and find out how much one is. for the "screen in centre pocket MKII" im thinking servos and electronic controllers! MJR Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 yr be going in maz power @ this rate m8;) Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 LMAO -- dancing robot galaxy as the new ford advert  i reckon, i may have time this weekend to finish the job - weather permitting! and then maybe check out my parking sensors, and then the front right headlamp, and then continue my experimenting with Xenon bulbs, and then come back to refinements of the car pc! ASSUMING nothing else goes wrong - which is being foolish! - i just cant guess what the next problem will be really! MJR Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 a dancing ford galaxy now thats kool;) Quote
Guest walz Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 OH NO, The parking sensors have gone back to seeing the towbar again!!!!!!!!! Well have a service in 1400 miles so will get the dealer to have a look  Walz Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 from my experience - the module has not learnt the tow bar is there - but the sensors work fine more so when its cold - when its warmer - its always a beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeb! the temperature must play a role in the sensitivity of these things - and shows ours just needs adjusting - which i think i can do if i register my VAGE. but got bigger fish to fry atm lol MJR Quote
springen Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Just thought I would mention that I fitted my towbar two weeks ago, and the sensors have finally stopped continually bleeeeeeeeping when reversing. - but maybe it's the cold weather - I'll see what happens when it warms up again ! Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 well, with ours it could be one of two things.... 1) when cold, they work fine, cos there less sensitive, which means they just miss the tow ball, and when warmer (or when the winter sun has been on them) - pack up lol 2) it is as intelligent as the forum says it is - and it has learnt to ignore the tow ball, and the actual problem is a faulty sensor - or wiring. an investigating will tell lol MJR Quote
springen Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I had car booked in at Ford dealer today and asked about the rear sensors - and they said there was no adjustment possible to ignore towbar. So, as the noise has now come back, I'll probably use the sticky tape method. I'll also keep an eye on here in case somebody finds a better solution. Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 well, i plugged my VAGCOM into the galaxy yesterday, and had a look at my parking sensors, no faults found, and when looking at the sensing range of the sensors, the rear inner two, kept jumping between 255 cm, and 16cms - and was in pattern with the solid BEEEEEEEP! so i reckon my problem is its picking up the tow ball, and all sensors and wires are fine. which means it has not learnt the tow ball is there! i will register my VAGCOM soon, (when i figure out how to lmao) - then see if its adjustable. Guest wolfie Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 to quote Ford..... Note:If an aftermarket towbar is installed, the system must be re-adjusted to take into account the length of the towbar ball head. The loudness of the acoustic indicator unit can be set to one of four levels and the parking aid re-adjusted for a towbar by using WDS in service. so go back and ask him to sit down and tell you again that it cant be done! and the reason for him sitting down? so he cant talk out of his arse this time when he tells you that it cant be done ;) Quote
adrianf. Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 After months of trouble free reversing my rear sensors started to bleep constantly over the weekend.Had a look at them and noticed that they where VERY dirty as the car hasnt been washed for probably about six weeks.Gave them a quick wipe over as havnt time to wash the whole car and hey presto, now working fine again.I didnt think dirt would have an effect but i spose if its thick enough. Quote
Grumpy Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Ditto the dirt. Mine started beeping continuosly and I thaught the towbar was to blame but a quick wipe with my thumb over the sensors this weekend got it working again! Quote
springen Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 I've gone for the black insulating tape method. Works fine for me. Found that I needed 3 or 4 layers of though. Quote
adrianf. Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Yup you shouldnt have any probs with that.Mine has been like it for a long time now and i find that the two outer sensors work fine on their own Quote
