Dave-G Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I've been offered an 05/05 galaxy at a fair price to change by a car supermarket. Its done nearly 22k miles but has no record of a 20k service. IF I buy it - and do say 1k miles while waiting to get it in to a ford garage, is my warranty going to be affected? I know the service interval rose to 24k for cars registered in 06. Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 from what fords said to me a few years back(and dont hold me to this ) they would give a 1000k over an all would be ok still with ref to the warranty j Quote
big_kev Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Is the warranty transferrable.......thought it only was under a private sale Shoot me down in flames ( again ) if I'm talking carp. Quote
Dave-G Posted January 11, 2007 Author Report Posted January 11, 2007 I'm referring to the 3 year manufacturers warranty Kev, thanks guys. Looks like its going to be a bit iffy at 23k. Might be better to assume no warranty comes with it and get cheaper non ford servicing at the outset - now how could I discuss that with ford motor co? Quote
big_kev Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I'm referring to the 3 year manufacturers warranty Kev, thanks guys. Yep so was I. Is this transferrable ? Quote
Dave-G Posted January 11, 2007 Author Report Posted January 11, 2007 Kev, thanks for the input. Manufacture's warranty carries through to any new owners up tp 60K or 3 years, as far as I know, providing it has been serviced according to Fords service schedules. which at that time were 10k intervals. big_kev Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 I stand corrected warranty attached Item No.9 is the one to read TermsAndConditionsUK.pdf Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 From memory, phone Ford Warranty up and get them to transfer their record of the vehicle into your name. IIRC I did this and told them that the car was 4 months overdue for a service when I bought it - they just told me to get it serviced ASAP and the warranty would be OK ...and then the A/C packed up and it must have cost Ford about a grand to fix it..... Dave-G Posted January 26, 2007 Author Report Posted January 26, 2007 Well I got some good news - the previous owners serviced it in house and have now stamped the service book for me, and look what I found in that PDF Kev... I'm guessing the standard ford warranty is "classic" Chapter 5:..."Before any work can be carried out under your Ford Protect Plan, you mustproduce your Ford Service History Log duly stamped and showing scheduledservicing. Scheduled servicing can be carried out by any repairer during the 3 yearClassic 60,000 mile Plan, but must always be carried out by an Authorised FordRepairer on Premium Plans" Quote
