Guest stevej Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Every time I start up my V6 Ghia X (97 P), a noise sounding very much like a loud mosquito (going up in pitch) comes from under the passenger side of the dash, it lasts for about 4 seconds, is this normal?. It dissapears as soon as I pull away. Quote
Guest shackers Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Hi Steve, I must admit to not having this problem and mine is the same spec. Although as soon as I put the key in th ignition the music is on and I'm on my way... On the way home tonight I'll have a listen... shackers Quote
Guest shackers Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 :( I'd be guessing, mine doesn't make that type of noise and I can't find anything concerning this type of noise?? sorry steve it's a mistery to me. could it be something to do with the Power steering? Auxilary belt? sorry, not mush help... I'll have a look at the diagrams at home and see what it could be... shackers Quote

Guest simon D Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 hi im thinking the buzzing noise is coming from the climate control display, built into the display is a tiny fan that starts up when you turn the key. if this becomes dirty it can make quite a noise it can be taken out and cleaned not something i would attempt but it can be done. hope this helps if not turn the stereo up !! Guest SA Intruder Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 The little fan draws air in one of the little climate control grilles and out of the other. When the bearings are dry, it squeals for a few moments. The Visteon unit is a freakin bugger to remove and strip. Quote
Guest stevej Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Thanks, as it is only happening infrequently I'll leave it well alone. Cheers Quote
