redneck01246 Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 hi guys just to let you know i have started install (not got as much as i would have liked due to work commitments)buoght some mk headrests of ebay(slightly darker anthracite)but all that was available at the time as i didn't want to bugger my originals up if i got it wrong. :angry2: could not find a coach trimmers to do the task as they said headrests on newer vehicles are all one cover and brace with hot foam blown in (1)put masking tape on headrest so you can make a template to cut out (2)cut slightly smaller as there is quite alot of give in the foam and material (3)check size of backplate by trial inserting and re cutting a little at a timein the centre bottom of the headrest there is a hole that was used during pruduction to blow hot foam in i used that to feed screen wire through when every thing looks okay fix back plate (i used high strength carpet adhesive) and lots of pressure with a vice but something heavy would suffice and hey prestofeed cable through hole as mentioned and fit screen (4) then feed a small diam length af plastic tube from the top of the seat to the bottom, thought this would be a knightmare but pipe followed the seams of the seat very easily tape lead to the end and draw up through seat (5)dummy fitted wiring and connected up and tested thats as far as i have got for now but have got to fit sony monitor on headlining by the supplied support (not looking forward to dropping headlining)will keep you all posted Quote

redneck01246 Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 ]just to update things fitted roof mounted screen and all the wiring installed, just got to source a splitter for other screens and heypresto most daunting job cutting the roof lining all the wiring was straight forward enough (time consuming)any questions just ask (head still spinning) ;) Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Tidy looking install that Redneck. How easy was the roof mounted screen and support to fit? Going to be attempting that at some point this year myself hopefully and would be nice to know what I'll be letting myself in for! Quote
redneck01246 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 not to bad just a matter of measure-measure and measure again before you cuti was surprised on how well made the lining is(fibreglass backing then foam then material you see) used three stanly knife blade to cu a 180mmx160mm holethe screen is supported by the bracket that is in earlier pics(very sturdy)makes life easier if you have a hand (thanks to brother in law) i wanted to remove complete headlining but could not get visor clips off Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 neatly finished! not sure i could bring myself to cutting the roof lining tho! MJR  Quote
