jackthehat.co.uk Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Doesn't really compare as you would have made similar savings if you had just bought a diesel in the first place. Merely trying to illustrate that running on 45p fuel is obviously going to save you a fortune compared to 90p fuel regardless of whether it's diesel or LPG. Quote

Nope not really........... Diesel will get over 40 mile per gallon...you wont get 20 to the gallon on a V6 LPG....in fact this may be nearer 15 mpg. Quote

DOH! but we can buy two litres for your one and get the pleasure of running a VR6 without breaking the bank :18: Like the idea of the tanks in the back though for the galaxy...surely they would be less likely to be damaged inside the car than underneath..........anyone got mods for fitting tanks underneath the rear two seats ? Just how big a tank do you think you could mount under a seat? ah! the old bomb routinehttp://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/images/smilies/yawn.gifa tank under the vehicle dangerous! it's safer than the plastic tank you presently have! it's tested to several time the pressure and load that the OE fuel tank is! has way more safety features built in as standard than the OE tank wether your running petrol or diesel! for details of this disscussion hit the search engine under the name Johnb80 ;) we have had many a good chat on the subject ;) Quote

I own the car so surely I am the one who knows the mpg.... you don't! For your info I get 23mpg on petrol and 20mpg on LPG. Take the 50% difference in cost between petrol and LPG and thats equivalent to 40mpg. You've also got the other advantages: quiet compared to diesel, far better performance, less frequent servicing, dual fuel capability, free to drive in central London etc etc etc. Not to forget that the original Granada 2.5 diesel only got 35mpg anyway. Mine is also an auto which wasn't available on the diesel, it's also a Scorpio with all the extras which you couldn't get on the diesel. Considering all the above I think an LPG conversion was a very wise choice indeed don't you think? Especially as I have owned the car for 7 years and intend to own it for a good few years yet. Quote
