Guest Paul Collins Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Sometimes, but seeming to get more frequent, the drivers door doesn't close completely. I can't seem to figure what I do to sort it, but it normally involves getting out of the car and shutting it, which it always does, then getting back in. Perhaps, the inner handle sticks out a little more than it should, but I've nothing to compare it against. Has anyone had such problems? Everything works ok, the engine starts, so the immobiliser is switched, but it just won't shut totally. Paul Quote
Guest John J Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Hi Paul, My 96 GLX has exactly the same problem. I find it will close only if you shut in gently for some reason. I have been told by a mechanic that the brass coloured catch (sorry cant think of the technical name for it) bolted to the body, has worn, and needs replacing. As with the aircon on my Galaxy (not working) it is on my "when I can get round to it" list. Although annoying, I can just about live with it at the moment. John. Quote
Guest Paul Collins Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I worked out last night (while leaving a Van Morrison show) that if I open the door, then pull on the outer handle again, it will shut, but sometimes I have to push the inner handle before the second outer handle pull Paul Quote
Tigger Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I had this problem on a 1.9 96 model. I changed the brass drivers catch with an escort and oiled it up and it seemed OK had no more trouble! Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I worked out last night (while leaving a Van Morrison show) Wow, what was the show like, I have seen him once and although he was a grumpy sod he was great, where was he playing. Quote

It was a private show for BBC Radio 2 to be airer on Saturday 13th December, held in Malvern, we even had "Whispering" Bob Harris to introduce him. He must have been having a non grumpy day, because the promised interval didn't happen and he played non stop for 1h 45mins. I don't think he's grumpy, just very private and shy, he seemed almost embarassed to be there, unless he was actually singing. He did a song called "Goldfish Bowl" that sums him up. Best sound quality at any show I've ever seen. The door played up this morning, but was ok tonight. Then a dashboard light went  Quote
