Guest Matrix Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Hi Folks We've got the above vehicle which has a problem with the engine overheating when under load - EG when going up a long hill etc We've also got a problem with no heat coming out of the heaters inside the car! We've had her into a local garage in Plymouth on this a few times - They've so far tried the following: 1) New Header tank cap - They say that can sometime cause it.2) New Thermostat3) Compresion Test on Engine to check the Head Gasket. Still have the same problems. Now I think it points to the thermostat - Am I right in saying the car has 2 thermostats? When she's been run for a while the radiator is still cold - To touch and the fans very rarely come on. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? Cheers in advance folks. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 first off only one stat on the engine, secondly is the aux heater working? the secondary coolant heater under the car? and is it just the gauge that says you over heating? or do you have other proof? for the engine to over heat and for you to have no heat output from the heater is unusual! the supposed extra heat should make it way via the coolant to the heater units! unless you have a second problem? do the engine cooling fans run? has any one looked at the water pump yet? the impellor falls off the shaft and can cause the problems your having! enough to be going with? have fun ps. just to keep the AR Brigade happy add your vehicle details to you signature  Quote
Guest Matrix Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Aux heater doesn't seem to be working either. Car is def overheating - Steam from cap etc etc - But she's not losing too much water - Only what boils off if you know what I mean. No-one has looked at water pump yet - I found another post about this sort of problem so I'm thinking that will be the next job. Cheers Quote
lazyb5 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 or a blocked or collapsed pipe sounds like a water pump to mewhy do they always go wrong in winter <_< Quote
