golfmadman Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Hi all, its been a long time since I have posted but I have viewed over the months and found the help invaluable. From a diff bearing, to broken drive shaft, to anti roll bars, tyres, brakes and a battery its been an expensive year. Now I have another problem (its been a bad year) . As my Gal (1.9 diesel 115bhp) warms up the temperature gauge acts a bit erratically going up and down quite quickly from 50 to 70 c. When the car finally settles and hits 90c or there abouts the engine starts to misfire but it runs perfectly up until this temperature. I have viewed several post on a similar issue but there has never been any solution to the problem. I have took it to several garages, some have had no reading from the system. Finally, Lucas by Dudley advised that unit 1 injector is not firing and I need to book into Ford to have it replaced. Ok, this sounds a bit expensive but I could go along with it but why only when warm? I would appreciate someone help on this plus if anyone can recommend a good garage in my Area of Stourbridge who can fault find and work on Galaxy's as most I have got out of Yellow pages either have turned down the work or advised that they can't fix it. HELP !! Quote
Andrew T Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Try Yellow Pages for a local Fuel Injection Engineer? (mine lists 4 or 5) you'd hope they would know they were doing. Quote
jvernon Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 The misfire when warm and the fluctuating temperature guage are probably related in some way. The temperature would affect the fueling and if the temperature is being misread; this could cause the misfire you're getting? Perhaps there is some way you can check the temperature sensor? Measure the resistance across it maybe? To do this you'll need to post the details of your car so that someone with the same car can check the resistance on their temperature sensor for you because as far as I'm aware there's no listing of resistances for senors on any of the information CD's? I have to say I find it hard to believe that an injector will work when it's cold and not when it's warm - although I don't know much about diesels so I could be wrong. Can anyone else verify this? Regards,James Quote

Guest MATT jr Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 ..when our temp sensor went pop, the engine did NOT miss fire, instead it just revved up to 1000rpms. ...although a fluctuating temperature gauge does point at a faulty sensor or possible problem with the thermostat. i think the miss fire could be something else. ...when the engine temp reaches 90C the fueling of the engine is reduced, could this reduction be causing a part blocked injector, to miss fire? getting a local fuel injector specialist sounds a good plan  MJR Quote
golfmadman Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 Drove to work again today, and to confirm the symptom, when the temp reaches about 70 it starts to Judder, feels like the car is trying to pull then lagging off. This happens for a few minutes when it then settles to a constant misfire that is quite bad below the 2000 revs mark, vibrations feels like the front gunner on a lancaster bomber when pulling away  Think I will contact GSF and order temp sensor just in case and have a good look aorund engine bay the weekend when I have daylight. Will try to find another specialist to confirm what is going on but have also booked into the Fraudsters on the 3rd if all else fails, hope I can cure it before then!! Thanks for help to date, will keep you posted on any resolution but any other ideas are gladly received. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy new year for now. Quote
golfmadman Posted January 3, 2007 Author Report Posted January 3, 2007 Latest update. Took Gal to Local Injector Specialist who diagnosed that Injector Unit was not firing and advised that injector needed changing which needed to be done by Ford. The reason was advised that the wiring was meeting high resistance as it heated up hence why it was Ok when cold. Ok, what ever you at least I have been given an answer this time. So dropped it off to Ford today and have advised that the injector wiring loom is the fault and needs replacing, Quote
Shanda Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 I am not sure if I am writing in the right form, but I have a problem which the local garages are confused about. I have a Galaxy 1.9 Giesel Auto 115bhp. At around 40-55mph it shakes badly. When I take foot off the gas or put in neutral problem goes away. Has anybody had this or any advise on this?
