Just looked back to the beginning of this thread.

An excerpt from Post 1:

I had read various threads on here about calcium batteries etc, but my local shop recommended a lead acid 'Numax' 88amp which was the same size as the old one, but had a lower rating.

And the most likely solution was identified was identified in Post 2:

Sorry i cant help with the battery drain problem but the attatched service bulletin from ford states that your vehicle should be fitted with a Ca battery ONLY.

Ca type batteries fitted to Galaxy from 09-99

Take a copy with you to the retailer and insist they change the battery for the one you originally asked for.

Its possible that the charging system is slightly different for the 2 different types of battery and that might be causing your problem.

And ignored.

Well, it just wouldn't sink in that the battery was not the problem. It seems more important to some folk to win a victory than learn a truth. I don't mind as long as the free spirits out there can make up their own minds, and at least I've got some friends!

For anyone interested, the ML270 is really spacious, but not as long as the gal inside, so less leg room in row 3. It is wonderfully smooth, quiet and responsive to drive - 163bhp with a 5 speed 'intelligent' electronic autobox, and officially gives 30mpg extra urban.

Yes Gooner, I've got parking sensors, headlamp washers, Xenon headlamps, dual climate control that works properley, rain sensitive wipers, automatic headlamps, auto dipping rear view mirror, elec folding wing mirrors, ABS, Traction control, ESP, 4WD, HI and LO ratios, Bose sound system, full leather, elec memory seats, heated seats, factory detachable towbar, plus all the usual stuff, and a big smile on my face!

These 2100Kg beasts used to be really expensive, but since the newer 2005 models came out, their prices have dropped substantially. I think they are great value and a good alternative to an MPV -

Yes, I know....but, with its new owner, I wonder if it is still a problem car.

It's only the battery - right Tim?

this is starting to remind me of a thread about changing a Maf sensor on here a while ago - after 4 or 5 peeps tried convincing a poster that he needed to change his maf sensor -about 30 posts, he evens wanted a guarantee that it would solve his problem

in the end he did change it - and yes it did solve it but it was hard work

this one looks like its all over though - unless of course the new owner registers ....................

Anyway, Gooner asked for it - so here is a pic of the old gal, and one of her successor.

You seem to have a penchant for ugly cars by the look of your Merc and the Sharan .... they could both do with cosmetic enhancements!

This is just MY opinion, regardless of other peoples advice

Ok folks I think this one has run and run - can't see any future in it
