Guest CraigBrownlie Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Hello All, I have a 1997 Galaxy TDi GhiaX 90HP which has climate control. It doesn't have the seperate heater or controls at the rear. The heating packed up about a year ago although it does start working from time to time, perhaps once every 4-5 months. When it does this it goes full blast and isn't able to be adjusted. It usually lasts 2-1 mins and then stops working. I've replaced the radiator thermostat and the engine temperature is normal. When the heating does wake up there is plenty of heat so I imagine the matrix is ok. The fan also runs fine and I have tried disconnecting the power to reset the controller. My guess is that there is a fault on the controller or the mechanism that is used to adjust the temperature, a flap presumably. I don't have a huge lot of money to spend with our local dealer so would welcome any help you guys can provide. My question is - can anyone suggest a way of fixing it so I have some heating over the winter (it is very cold up here in the North of Scotland  ) or at least a method of proving whether the temp control motor is working and where it is. I would be very happy to bodge something. I am technically competent but not that experienced in car maintenance. Thanks all Craig Quote
Guest wolfie Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 if as you say both heater units are not working? then it may be as you say the main control panel is U/S or the plugs to the rear of the unit are falling out! it has been reported elsewhere! check the connections behind the dash Quote
Guest CraigBrownlie Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Hi Wolfie, Thanks for your reply. I have checked the 3 big connectors at the rear of the climate control unit and they appear to be ok. Does anyone know which connector and pins are used to control the heating, would it be possible to bypass the control board and just have the heating up full all the time ? Does anyone know anywhere I can purchase a used control board to try swapping ? Cheers Craig Quote
