i dont rate it

i bought mine, and at first thought it was fine

comes with 2x remotes .add up to 4 inputs and output to four screens

only problem is.for the remote to work you need to be right on top on the main unit

the unit only comes with a small

antenna wire..

i did try to extend the wire but no joy.

so to be honest save your money

the clarion one is a lot better and only cost me about

...ok, i started work on my screen/centre pocket.

its like a mini-project all on its own!

iv taken pics and all that, but it isn't finished yet (been a lot of metal work today)

waiting for my drill to charge up again, once finished, i will edit this post, to show how iv done it...i think you will be impressed.

so, after weeks of thinking on this part of the install, iv progressed enough to start posting on here.

1st thing i did, was measure the width of the monitor, and added 2mm to each side of the measurement. i then cut a length of aluminum tube (10 mm dia) to that measurement (cant remember how many mm it was now - doesn't matter to you, as your monitor will be a different size).

i then marked the exact half-way point, and using a bracket i made, drilled a pilot hole through the tube, and then enlarged this hole to 6.5 mm, to allow a M6 bolt through it - this will later fix to the monitor.

look closely, and you can see the tube attached to the bottom of the screen...

i then removed the top centre pocket from the car, and cut out the ridge, that goes down the centre of the pocket - this is needed, as the lid wont shut with that in.

i then placed the monitor in the pocket, and checked it would shut.

now sure the monitor will fit, i took some round plastic, that (IIRC) is 8mm dia, an fits very snugly inside the 10mm aluminum tube.

cut two lengths of about 6 cms, chamfered one end, and drilled a hole in the other, and put a screw in it.

post-4198-1167259856.jpg

i then took a strip of aluminum, about 1.5 cm wide, 2 or 3 mm thick, and using drills and a jigsaw cutter, made these two bits..

post-4198-1167259929.jpg

so we now have this..

post-4198-1167259965.jpg

iv laid it out how it will be assembled. with the screws, going through the "runners" into the plastic, which will slide snug into the aluminum tube, which bolts to the monitor.

the next problem is, the cable that comes out of the monitor is about 6 mm thick, which is too thick, and will stop the pocket from closing when the monitor is in there. so, i had to open it up, and change the cable, to a flat ribbon cable, thats about 1.5mm thick.

back of monitor removed, and ribbon cable to be fitted..

post-4198-1167260363.jpg

as theres 15 wires inside the monitor - some of which the same colour, i "bunched" them, and labeled each bunch A, B, C & D, i then cut the wires, and removed the lead.

post-4198-1167260487.jpg

i then spent a good few hours, being very careful to connect each wire correctly, to the ribbon cable, making a total of 30 connections. the ones in the monitor, having heat shrink on them, and the other end, insulation tape.

post-4198-1167260683.jpg

i then filed down the inside part of the monitors back casing, to allow the ribbon cable to pass through - while still being clamped, to stop the lead getting pulled out.

i then taped up the other end, like so...

post-4198-1167260777.jpg

i then returned to the car, plugged the monitor in, and checked to see if it still worked - which to my relief it did! phew!

...back to the centre pocket, i cut two, 2inch long, blocks of wood, and screwed them in to the pockets walls, i then placed in the assembled "mechanism" - if you can call it that.

Matt,

Quite impressed with your progress so far.

Thought you were on no hoper at first...but it looks like you are getting somewhere.

Could be a very popular mod. for other MK2 owners.

thanks chaps, much appreciated.

the mounting of the monitor has by far given me the most headaches & worry in the entire install - i think its also the one single thing that has taken the most time to do, aswel as the hard thinking, and searching in B&Q for bits!

I can see the finish line now - but the last hurdle is the hardest!

 I just gotta a thought

Why not suspend a cini projector from the roof behind the last row of seats.

You could then put one of those crappy dashboard protectors(like they use in spain) up against the winscreen, as the head up display

then get a 12 volt popcorn maker, AND MAKE POPCORN !!!!!

God i'm good. Problem solved

P.S. my wife was looking over my shoulder while i was replying to this.

and apparently it's not going to work in our Galaxy. mmmmm
