this is a bit far away from you but i can highly recommend them if they don't mind posting it back to you. they do NOT deal with diesel ecu's but they do a first class service on petrol ones. i paid them

The problem is with the the car's emissions, as i have posted in other threads. I thought the problem was solved after an air leak was found on the lpg vaccume hose, but it kept stalling on stop start journey's.

Had the car tested and at first the guy thought it was the lambda sensor, but this works fine on lpg within the correct range using the lpg's ecu. On petrol the sensor's readings go to low and don't hunt within the range.

His advise was to have the main ecu tested then take it from there.

Unlikely to be the ECU unless the conversion has damaged it.

You have checked that the wiring is fine? Have you disconnected the conversion?

How is the lambda sensor switched between the original ECU and the conversion?

The sensor is connected to the lpg ecu with two wires one to the earth the other to the signal wire. The lambda sensor was tested with a voltmeter, and the guy thinks this could be the problem as some meters bugger up the ecu. I have issolated the lpg in the past with no effect.

I was looking for tips to a similar problem and was interested to read of Alan Jefferies Auto matec in Plymouth, as it is local to me. However on contacting them about my Galaxy which has an LPG conversion that runs fine, but wont run on petrol, I received this reply...

Hello Simon

Oh Dear !

We have a policy, NO LPG CARS IN OUR WORKSHOP . I consider the whole thing a waste of space, borne out by years of hearing of horrendous problems with poor running, backfires, and worse. The equipment used by most suppliers is Mickey Mouse junk that I wouldn't have hanging around the back of my washing machine. ( Correction, my Wife's washing machine )

My advice, get rid, and quickly, then buy a far superior turbo diesel.

Alan

Hi Simon,

I had my car in for a service at ford back end of Sept, i had them change the brake fluid during the service, the following day it was cold the car was n't running right lack of power and missfire, wife took it back they loooked at, it cleaned up the plug for the mass air flow sensor and said try that, if no better need new sensor.

It was no better so i fitted new sensor, no change, back to Ford they said it was a gas problem as i have lpg system fitted.

Car runs ok on gas but not on petrol, ( me thinks its a petrol related )

I contacted Autogas 2000 at Thirsk Nth Yorks which i highly reccomend for lpg users, explained problem they agreed it sounded petrol related, i booked the car in with them for peace of mind.

Problem solved Air pipe not fitted onto the manifold, i went back to Ford told them the findings, either the pipe was disconected or knocked off whilst they were changing the brake fluid, i have been promised refund of money for Autogas 2000 bill and a heavilly reduced discount on next sevice.

As for Alan Jefferies Auto it sounds if he's stuck in the dark ages and not moved on with time.

Auto 2000 tel no is 01845523213, they are a main dealer and ditribute to reputable firms around the country, i am sure they will be able to reccommend a suitable firm near to you.

Hope this is of any help,

Derek <_<
