bigdaddy Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Got agree with nik, sounds like a flat battery, did you hear 5 bleeps when you stopped trying to crank the engine The relays are behind the fuse box, most forum members report that relay 30, (power relay) is the usual suspect, Quote
brawlski Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 I have just had the same problem!, took it to the dealers and got them to change the power hold relay, two weeks later it happened again! turns out the silver-calcium battery was gubbed and wasn't storing more than 1 crank of the engine. so if i stopped the car but left the lights on a second before switching off then the battery wouldn't turn the engine and the clicking and flashing of the dash lights occured. changed the battery and it all went away. the new battery is not a silver calcium one! they are no good if they ever run flat! Andrew T Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 No relay 30 on Mk2s (nor on Mk1s after 98?), the FAQ above says it's replaced by relay 27, but that's listed as "Fuel Supply DOHC only" in my handbook and therefore shouldn't be present on a Diesel. Anybody give a definitive answer? Quote
