Guest Gerry Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Now being new and all that and being on a Ford Galaxy site I didnt expect too see so many links and references to VW etc. Now I know that there is a sensible explanation for this....perhaps vw made the galaxy engine I really dont know. Can someone please put me out of my misery......PLEASE. Quote

Andrew T Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 The full story is that that the design and developement was done by VW and the production engineering by Ford. All three versions (inc the Seat Alhambra) are thrown together in the same factory in Portugal. If you're sad you'll recognise bits of the Galaxy turn up all over the Audi, Skoda, VW and Seat range, most parts having a VW part number. The only true Ford engineering is the 2.3 and 2.0 engine and their Gearbox. Quote
morticiaskeeper Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Ford bits, or at least engineering. Brake calipers - seem very ford to me, including the need for a 7mm allen key Door lock motors, just put a mondeo motor on a Sharan Whole locking system, don't VW use pneumatic? Although the locks suffer from the usual Golf problems in the wet/cold. Definitely a parts bin special, although nowhere near the ultimate parts bin special - the G Wagon :) Quote
