Now being new and all that and being on a Ford Galaxy site I didnt expect too see so many links and references to VW etc. Now I know that there is a sensible explanation for this....perhaps vw made the galaxy engine I really dont know. Can someone please put me out of my misery......PLEASE.

The full story is that that the design and developement was done by VW and the production engineering by Ford. All three versions (inc the Seat Alhambra) are thrown together in the same factory in Portugal. If you're sad you'll recognise bits of the Galaxy turn up all over the Audi, Skoda, VW and Seat range, most parts having a VW part number. The only true Ford engineering is the 2.3 and 2.0 engine and their Gearbox.

Ford bits, or at least engineering.

Brake calipers - seem very ford to me, including the need for a 7mm allen key

Door lock motors, just put a mondeo motor on a Sharan

Whole locking system, don't VW use pneumatic? Although the locks suffer from the usual Golf problems in the wet/cold.

Definitely a parts bin special, although nowhere near the ultimate parts bin special - the G Wagon :)

actually Ford were in charge of the design concept, construction of the production plant, logistics and production of the vehicles, VW was principally responsible for vehicle development
