I have a S reg galaxy 2.4 Ghia,

 

It failed the MOT this week because the ABS light did not illuminate.

 

 

What is the correct colour and lighting sequence for this when the ignition is started?

should come on for approx 5 seconds when ignition is turned on and then go out unless there is a fault with the abs system

I the ABS warning light red? or orange?

On the MK 2, 2.3 the light is orange and stays on for a few seconds after ignition while it self checks. If there was a problem it would be on all the time unless a previous owner has removed the bulb (has it ever worked?).

Will come on with the others then go off.

As others have said, the MOT test for it is it lights for a few seconds then goes off. That is all the MOT test covers on the ABS. If it comes back on again when the vehicle is moved then that is not a reason for failure.

can people please check to see how old a thread is before replying?? chances are if a thread is this old the problem may have been resolved, or a solution posted in a newer thread.
