Its that time of year again when most of us aren't using our air con at all, heres a reminder to go out and run it on cold for at leat 5 minutes to avoid an expensive bill for a seized compressor come spring/summer 07. :)

This should be repeated regularly. Just trying to save forum members some cash in the new year !

mines on auto ,always gets a run out

:(

So if your climate control is always on 'auto' like mine, does it mean the AC is still switching on and off, even though temperatures aren't high enough ? I thought the A/C compressor would only switch on if it needs the blast of cold air to get the cabin temperature down ?

If it's on auto then it's on  i always leave mine on don't see much diff in consumption

IIRC when set to auto, the air flows through the air con gubbins, dehumidifying and cooling the air. If the air is then required to be heated, its done so by the heater matrix. So yes, if on Auto, the whole system should be being used and lubricated.

Of course I could have dreamt all this ..... I once dreamt I was a weetabix, so anything is possible!!
