jkspoff Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Its that time of year again when most of us aren't using our air con at all, heres a reminder to go out and run it on cold for at leat 5 minutes to avoid an expensive bill for a seized compressor come spring/summer 07. :) This should be repeated regularly. Just trying to save forum members some cash in the new year ! Quote

jkspoff Posted December 4, 2006 Author Report Posted December 4, 2006 mines on auto ,always gets a run out :( So if your climate control is always on 'auto' like mine, does it mean the AC is still switching on and off, even though temperatures aren't high enough ? I thought the A/C compressor would only switch on if it needs the blast of cold air to get the cabin temperature down ? Quote
raymac Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 If it's on auto then it's on  i always leave mine on don't see much diff in consumption Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 IIRC when set to auto, the air flows through the air con gubbins, dehumidifying and cooling the air. If the air is then required to be heated, its done so by the heater matrix. So yes, if on Auto, the whole system should be being used and lubricated. Of course I could have dreamt all this ..... I once dreamt I was a weetabix, so anything is possible!! Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 ive been meaning to ask 4 ages whats IIRC stand for  Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 IIRC - If I Remember Correctly .... get with the times James   Quote

Andrew T Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 If you leave it on Auto it will make your demisting far quicker as the air is being dehumified . Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 got in to mine last night put it on econ and all the windows misted upput it on auto ,and everything cleared in seconds  Quote
