Guest rolo Posted November 17, 2003 Report Posted November 17, 2003 I had my Ford KA serviced a month ago, and now the hand brake light keeps coming on whilst heavy braking, and sometimes during accelerating - I was advised to have the brake fluid changed during the service, as the car is 2 years old - but having only done 7000 miles, I didn't feel this was necessary. Did Ford maybe start draining it, then realised their mistake, so the fluid level is now low? There was no problem before the service. Any help would be appreciated Rolo
Guest DervMan Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 The Ka has a very sensitive "low brake fluid" warning lamp. You may well find that it'll kick in when tackling a left hand corner at speed ;) or under braking ;) or both  if you're being a hooligan! /cough/ It's simply a case of topping up the fluid with DOT4 (I believe). We've had this issue with Kermit, check out the Ka Diary section for information on it. And we still have a veeeery slow brake and clutch fluid leak from somewhere, too. Note that 2001 Kas can have a weeping brake fluid loss from close to the rear drums, in addition to the front wheelarch brake pipe problem that was much mooted in the press earlier last year. Or was it 2002, heh!
