NeilTindle Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 We've had a 2.0GLX petrol Galaxy for about 2 years a 25k miles and still can't believe the performance can be this bad from a modern car. I've done the obvious by replacing the MAF sensor, new cat when that disintergrated, full service etc but it still feels as though only the first half throttle does anything. I'd measure the top gear 50-70mph time for comparison but I don't think it would do it without changing down a gear or two. Is it really supposed to be like this? Quote
Andrew T Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Blocked injectors? cam chain jumped and thrown timing out? Quote
NeilTindle Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 Blocked injectors? cam chain jumped and thrown timing out?I hadn't considered the injectors or the cam chain. Is it really possible that the cam chain have jumped a tooth? It seems a bit unlikely. Quote
Andrew T Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Here is a post claiming just that, although not on a galaxy. How's your fuel consumption? is the engine smooth? idle steady? oil consumption acceptable? Quote
NeilTindle Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 Fuel consumption is about average at 23mpg, tick-over is very smooth and it uses almost no oil between changes. One thing I have wondered but not been able to check is whether the rear silencer is blocked after the cat converter disintergrated. Another ne which crops up quite regularly is a faulty throttle position sensor. Can these be checked? Quote
