Guest mebsk Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Hello everyone, I have the following : 052,Galaxy tdi auto 134,000 miles Driving my galaxy last night at about 30mph, when i noticed a loss of power and subsequently the engine cutout. When i tried to start it, it would just cutout after i took my foot of the accelerator. The dash display was showing alternator workshopTemperature midway, about 90.About 5 minutes later the galaxy started, but i noticed that the revs were not going any higher then just over 3000rpmDriving the vehicle home i noticed that it would not change above 3rd gear. The engine had been steam cleaned on monday and had not been used since driving it home, so could water ingress be a problem, if so where do i look?I have only recently aquired this vehicle so i dont know if there was any underlying problems beforehand, although it had a 30mile trip on a dual carriageway without any problems. Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated many thanks Quote

Guest mebsk Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 sounds like it went into 'Limp home mode' last night hows it doing this morning??I started it up this morning, no problems. Revved the engine, was going to about 4500rpm, but was going down a bit after a few secs.As the engine was warming up the revs were getting lower, about 4000rpm at 1/3 temperature.Did not want to risk driving it in case it cut out again.Had a look at the electrical plugs around the battery area, they seems dry, looks as if they did not remove the cover when they cleaned this area. many thanks Quote
