Guest gooner52 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 try looking in the fags or use the search button might find some answers there might need recode :D Quote
boxman32 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 hi carl, had same problem with mine.each key has a chip inside them,if the chip is missing or not programed to the car,the car is designed to shut down after a couple of seconds(safty feature to stop car from getting stollen, imobaliser kick in).if a key has a chip in it,it has to be programed which you would need the master key(red key).otherwise ford would have to do this for you and charge an arm ang leg. Well ive only just bought this car 2 weeks ago and i have 122 months full warranty on this car do you think i should ring then up to see what they say ? Quote
raymac Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I would take it back under warranty ,but don't bother rushing as your warranty is just a tad over 10yrs long :D :D ;) Quote
Smilge Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I think you can re-program each key IIRC. Doesnt the manual show instructions on how? Quote

Doesnt the manual show instructions on how? yes bleeno it doesj ust had a gander in the book :D Note that this is the second key and has no buttons ;) so I would doubt that will work. Should be able to get a locksmith to check the coding on the key. Don't know if they can change them though :D Anyone know about this? Quote

Don't know if they can change them though :D Anyone know about this? doubt what would work? note:the remote coding (opening the doors) is handled by the GEM system, the PATS coding handles the engine starting, a non remote key, plain or with torch - single button just needs the PATS sorting, a remote key will need the GEM coding and PATS coding sorted, 2 different procedures! would help if OP put car details in signature I've scrolled back and forth on my pda to find some idea of age (since it appears to have a warranty period of 10years,2 months and 2 weeks must be a new standard- wonder what the milage limit is 156,067 ;) ;) :D :D Quote

All I was pointing out was that the manual (IIRC) shows how to re-program the keys to the locking system, but not anything else, and the problem appeared to be the second key that doesn't have the lock/un-lock buttons. :D Quote
strouf Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Is the non-working key , an original ? If so , it should be reprogrammed . This can be done by owner if TWO working keys are available. If your duff key is an aftermarket, most probably the chip is missing.... Quote
jkspoff Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 I have exactly the same problem, I have 2 remote keys that are programmed and work fine, but I also have a master none remote key that doesn't work in the ignition, I have tried every single method, both on this forum and from the manual, none of which work. I suspect he is having the same issues. Anyone know of a company other than Frauds that will do this for us ? Quote

jkspoff Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Yep, this is my key and its contents, I just checked that there was a chip in it as suggested. Quote
NikpV Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 how about trying to reprogram holding the chip close to the lock - try a coulple of different orientations  Quote
semitac Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 I have an issue with my remote key. it will not start the car but the remote function is OK. Before this state, I was able to start the car if I did the following. get in and out of the car, lock and unlock the car couple of times and then all was OK. If I use the spare key, the car starts straight away. Can anyone help. jay Quote
