"fan Belt" On Mk2 Galaxy 2.3

Hi, My Galaxy (2001, 50k miles) aircon compressor has failed and the clutch bearing has gone west and seized as well (long story, rogue local garage trying to put double the amount of refridgerant in during a regas etc etc). I have a new aircon clutch assembly that I want to put on so that I can at least use the car (even if it's only to drive it to a garage to get a new compressor etc). I'm reasonably OK with a spanner but can somebody please give me a quick rundown of the procedure to do this (eg the last time I took a fanbelt off a car was 20 years ago on a 1954 Austin A30!) - how to you remove the fanbelt! and will I need any special tools to change the aircon clutch assy that the belt runs around? Hi Neal, Use the search facility to look for "Auxilliary Drive Belt" the tensioner can sometimes give trouble on the 2.3 and the belt removal procedure should be there also.

Many thanks for the assistance , aircon clutch is now changed and noise free - great! One quick question, when using the forum I used the pdf "galaxy belt" - the link is

http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...pe=post&id=1691 ------- please could somebody have a look at their MK2 2.3 for me or check the 2.3i DOHC belt routing diagram for me - my belt goes from the Aircon compressor pulley (the bottom right one in the diagram with 4 little circles on it) around the outside of the one directly above it and then inside the small pulley above this before going around the alternator (the very top one in the diagram). This seems to be right as the grooved side of the belt is in grooves around the bottom 2 and the flat side is against the flat small pulley - the engine runs fine but I don't want to find it's routed wrong and I end up ruining something!

Looking at the TIS diagram I think you dont have it quite right. From bottom right pulley it goes INSIDE(to the left) of the one above it(3 small circles on it) then OUTSIDE(to the right) of the smaller one at top right, then over the alternator, then OUTSIDE(to the left) of the next one, then INSIDE(to the right) of the tensioner, then OUTSIDE(to the left) of the one at bottom left. Thanks for the response, I want to check if the diagram is right tho' - the 3 small circles one (you can tell I'm not very technical!) above the bottom right pulley (the bottom right one which I think is the aircon compressor) is grooved and if you put the belt to the left of this the flat side of the belt rests against the grooves (which I can't think is right?) and the belt seems too loose.
