Guest Cepheus Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Changed both headlight bulbs tonight after one had blown. I'm now getting a strange pulsing noise from the OS headlight area when the dipped beams are switched on. If I waggle the wires to the H4 headlight bulb then nothing changes, but waggling the wires to the sidelight bulb it temporarily stops? The noise is a mixture of an electrical buzz and a relay click, but not really either noise exactly? :) Any ideas what this could be and why it's happened when changing the bulbs? BTW fitted Halfords Super Brilliance Xenon H4 bulbs and certainly give a whiter crisper light. Nowhere near the 50% brighter claim on the box though, but definately better than the previous ones fitted. Halfords are doing them at Quote
Dave-G Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I suspect It's the height alignment servo. . Mine wont travel full high or low anymore - so I leave it midway :) Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Just had another look now and the lights seem to go through some kind of initial levelling sequence when the lights are turned on. The light beam shudders slightly for a few seconds while the noise occurs and then it stops. Just never noticed it before! Its a bad day when you don't learn something new! :) Quote

jwilliams Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Both my headlamps are making this chatter noise!!!!! The headlamp adjuster does not seem to work either. Is is sensible to assume that both motors will not have fialed at the same time and the potentiometer is to blame? Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Does the chattering noise stop after a few seconds or is it a permanent noise you are getting? My first point of call would be to get a multimeter onto the potentiometer to see what outputs you are getting. Quote
jwilliams Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 seemed pretty constant While sat in traffic i can see the beam bobbing up and down. I would have put it down to the motor is both were not doing it. I am concerned the motors will fail anyway if i dont sort it soon Quote
