tim-spam Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 How many miles since the last cambelt change? Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Hi I had the same on my 99 Tdi the damage fortunately was limited to every vavle hydraulioc lifter and three bent valves and a minor imprint on one piston. I replaced all the lifters and all the bent valves the piston I left as it was a minimal impact and no real deformation on the piston head. The major cost was the labour for removing and refitting the head. If your really unlucky the camshaft breaks into three parts and all the valves break and are forced into the head, in this circumstance a scond hand engine would be the best option due to the potential damage to the pistons etc. best of luck.
