chicken_arse_legs Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Hi everyone watching, As you can see by my enthusiasm, I Quote
NikpV Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 maf probably u/s for a start whether damage done at the time or after :) whats it like on a hill ? fuse blowing should prevent wiring burning out - thats their job ! glowplug light often brought up by brake pedal switch malfunction - cheap self repair may be a start Quote
MrT Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I would suggest clearing the fault codes then reading them again. Most of those were caused by your mates incompetence and should not come back unless a real fault exists. It could be that the "shorts" have locked up the ECU rather than damaging the sensor inputs, so a total reset by disconnecting the battery for a while could reset it. It could be that a short remains where you friend was fiddling so recheck what he did and remove any wires he added. He may have connected the power to a sensor rather than a power lead. I cannot see how anyone wiring up a stereo (the wires are there in the dash) can connect to a MAF. Quote
mumof4 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 id get him to pay for any damage!! sounds like MAF is u/s..as for the rest..he sounds worse than me! :) Quote

mumof4 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 he sounds worse than me! :) bit too extreme I think :D :D (just thought id whack this in! :) ) well..i know i wouldnt plug anything into the maf to see which is pos or neg.....id come on here and ask :( :( .... Quote
Smilge Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Hopefully, with the Fuse blowing it will not have damaged the ECU ...from the list of shorts it appears that you are looking at the Analogue input signal conditioner rather than the switched input conditioner. Like Mr T mentioned ..you may need to hard reset the ECU rather than clear the fault codes by disconnecting the battery and hopefully this will sort it. If not, then its looking expensive. There will be in built protection within the computer but I would suggest that you may have damaged the A/D converter which will cause your fault light. Quote

mumof4 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 one point when disconnecting the battery..if you have got the stereo working by some small chance... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE KEY CODE!!!!!!!! just thought id get that in...in case you didnt know already..or for future ref.. :D Quote
keith9534 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 :D whats it like on a hill ? Is poor performance on hills a symptom of a bad MAF? I only ask because our diesel Mondeo is very bad at hill starts (no power, etc)......and also gives poor MPG Quote

Interesting responses indeed, i'am a peaceful guy so I forgive and forget and he is more skint than me! I really don't think its the MAF because it wasn't connected at the time and its fine on the hills and it gives the same mpg as before. Still get about 100mile for Quote
mumof4 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I think most peeps on here say disconnect it for a min of 30 mins.. Quote
