onslow Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 My other half has a 3 litere petrol shogun h reg (new shape)she came home locked i up went out later that day wouldnt start? aa came out said it was black box on top of engine?changed that no difference,does anyone have any ideas?is there a common thing that goes on these,it turns over but does not attempt to fire? Guest neil_wiles Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Common fault is the crankshaft position sensor and normally its ok until it cools down then it fails and the engine will not fire whatsoever. A quick check with the an autoelectrician will be able to tell alternatively using a digital multi meter you will be able to back probe the connector and measure a pulse as the engine rotates past TDC. They are quite cheap now so shouldnt be an issue. Quote
