My other half has a 3 litere petrol shogun h reg (new shape)she came home locked i up went out later that day wouldnt start? aa came out said it was black box on top of engine?changed that no difference,does anyone have any ideas?is there a common thing that goes on these,it turns over but does not attempt to fire?

Common fault is the crankshaft position sensor and normally its ok until it cools down then it fails and the engine will not fire whatsoever.

 

A quick check with the an autoelectrician will be able to tell alternatively using a digital multi meter you will be able to back probe the connector and measure a pulse as the engine rotates past TDC.

 

They are quite cheap now so shouldnt be an issue.

where is the crankshaft sensor located?

Just foundf out oday my one does not have a crank shaft sensor?still trying to get the thing going seem to have power there just no spark very weird??

There might be a Hall sender located in the distributor? (This senses engine position - it's a crankshaft sensor with a different name.) Just an idea...
