Manxman Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 I have a 2001 Galaxy 1.9 tdi which is described as Grey although it does look silverish to me . Need to find a paint code and can't find the VIN plate on the B pillar passenger side or drivers side , but found a label in the rear compartment housing the jack etc. The label reads as follows:- 7MO 864988 C R31 PT >CO+PF< From that info can anyone tell me which might be the paint code please? chromedome Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 VIN Plate location, a bit difficult to describe. Whilst looking under the bonnet, go to top left area near the left bonnet hinge. There's a deep hole, I think it's the scuttle drain area, and you will find the VIN plate all nicely covered in dirt and dust. The VIN plate should have the colour code on it. Happy hunting. Quote

Manxman Posted November 21, 2006 Author Report Posted November 21, 2006 Thanks for the info.. I was told that the vin plate is just a sticker and might have been removed. However the local Ford dealer identified the colour ( Satin Silver) from the chassis number viewed through the lower N/S part of the windscreen . They are no help with the paint code though. So, I ordered the Ford aerosol kit. Just got to wait 5 days for Ford Parts to deliver:( Quote

Ford Parts/Service depts should be able to tell you lots of info (including paint colour) from your vehicle reg no if they really wanted to! Quote
