Nige F Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 I have to replace the door miror glass after Mrs F managed to find a wheelie bin hiding in the road!!. Has anyone had to replace and are they easy enough to do, the replacing bothers me more than removing the old one and at Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Buy a stick-on replacement from a motor factors or Halfrauds; quicker and should be cheaper than dismantling the mirror to remove the old glass, especially if most of it is still there but just cracked. Quote
Guest Boggler Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 I had to replace my heated mirror glass. They just clip on to a what I can only describe as plastic ring about the size of the base of a cup, if you've got a heated one the only other thing is clipping the wires on and off, simple push connectors. Theres nothing to them, use the flat of your hand to push the replacement glass onto the clip and you can't go too far wrong. Quote
_dg Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 I had to replace a heated mirror on a previous car, but skimped and bought a cheap stick on one. It was crap and I hated it, wished I bought a proper replacement but sold the car before I could. True, fitting is easy, but paying for it is the hard bit Quote
Denis Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Yes my Missus has had a couple of similar mishaps and replacing the broken (heated) glass using the Ford original only took a couple of minutes. Quote
Dave-G Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 They're a doddle to replace...pop out the old,pop in the new!plug in the wires first if heated type. I would never buy a car from anyone who could'nt or would'nt replace them with genuine parts, stick on's suggest the previous owner lacked in tender lovin care,and................................................................................Int it amazin how "missus" gets the blame? Nige F Posted November 13, 2003 Author Report Posted November 13, 2003 Thanks for all the replies, exact cost was Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 ...and I'm pleasantly surprised to see how reasonable the genuine Ford replacements are. Hopefully, however, I will never need to buy one (fingers crossed...) Quote
