Jimbo73 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 When I stripped out my linkage to repair it after it seized I noticed there was no cover on the box with the filter in. I am guessing there should be one there but there isnt. Does anyone know where to get one, and is it going to cause any damage ie. if it falls out and hits the linkage, fumes in the car , or is this just OTT? Do we really need the cover or will my black tape suffice?? Quote
seatkid Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 No cover - just a filter and a frame - is the frame missing? Quote
Jimbo73 Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 No cover - just a filter and a frame - is the frame missing? The frame is there, and the filter is sitting in the frame, just seems as though there is no lid/cover for the filter. Quote
seatkid Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Correct.. There should be no cover (some frames have a slighlty different design) Quote
Guest HairyPlateEater Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Mine has no frame so "manufactured" a suitable filter restraint system using old speaker cable ..... Quote
seatkid Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Mine has no frame Is that to improve the air flow? Quote
Guest HairyPlateEater Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Mine has no frame Is that to improve the air flow? :) LMAO - was thinking of fitting a cold air induction pollen filter to help even more .... do you think the car will go faster that way?  Quote
Jimbo73 Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 Once again people.. Thanks for all your help..... Looks like my black tape is enough... I may patent it - Pollen Filter retention device' Quote
seatkid Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 was thinking of fitting a cold air induction pollen filter to help even more .... I would recomend a green cotton type over the pre-oiled type - they tend to make a mess of the windscreen do you think the car will go faster that way?In theory I think you might be able to get as much as 15% improvement and better economy as well! :)I may patent it - Pollen Filter retention device'Too late - its in the public domain now! Quote
Vanbursta Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Don't forget to modify it to stop the water ingress - or you could just buy the new pattern frame from Fords at about a tenner! Quote
