Fuel Gauge

could anybody tell me why the fuel gauge on my mk1 galaxy is so innaccuratte, if i park it on a slope pointing down, it may for example tell me that i have a quarter of a tank left, if i park it on a level it tells me i have almost half a tank left

ive not had this problem on other makes of car

mine does the same - and I've had it on other cars too.

 

probably to do with the angle of the fuel in the tank being higher (or lower) on the side of the tank that the fuel level sender guage is situated when the car is at a gradient.

 

Parking level will give the most acurate guide as to fuel levels

Even on the level it's not accurate, ours will go 300miles and show half a tank remaining but after another 100 miles the low level warning light will be on.

Yet mine will show 1/4 and can still do 850 miles.... :)

had this on my old gal,but the zaffys is terrible(expecting pisstaking comments now) it can go from over a quater to the flashing light depending on the camber of the road.never had this problem in any other car(or just didnt notice it).
