Guest hc105777 Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 My Mondeo (1800 LX, Manual, 2001) has recently developed a problem. After driving for about 1 hour the clutch pedal becomes very stiff and requires a lot of pressure to depress it. The clutch biting point also changes - the pedal is almost fully released befor the clutch engages. If the car is left for long enough (usually overnight) the problem disappears until it is driven for another long spell. My local dealer tells me that they can find nothing wrong with the clutch. (The clutch does not slip). The car has only covered 22,000 miles. Is anyone suffering from similar problems ? Thanks for any responses. Quote
Guest graham12 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I have exactly the same problem with my 2001 2.0 GHIA. It takes about an hour of driving to stiffen up. I haven't found a cure. Quote
Guest hc105777 Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Try topping up the brake / clutch fluid reservior, it seems to have done the trick for me. :( i tried writing to Ford but they weren't much help ! Quote
Guest graham12 Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 I've tried topping up and also fully bled the clutch. It seemed a bit better for a couple of weeks after the bleeding, but stiffened up again soon after. It gets very stiff after an hour's drive and makes the car unpleasant to drive - a shame since it is very good in all other respects. Quote
