Ford/vw Part Numbers For Bits

When you go to the dealers, they access the computer, bring up all the exploded views and can get the part numbers of bits. It would be useful if we could do this. Do they go online to a protected Ford site, or is this a local bit of software in addition to the TIS? I can't find part numbers in mine.

Actually Ford use a system called Microcat and VW use Ekta, for my money I prefer Microcat, it's easier to use and covers the entire range. Both type of parts reference are available from well known auction sites, although strictly speaking it would of course be illegal to use either if they had not been purchased from the original company that made them.

Had etka instaled on my Pc but it has to be online and you have to pay to be able to us it.

My version (5) of Ekta soesn't need to go anywhere, it just installed straight off the discs.

 

Bought from a certain auction site, listings will probably not say ETKA, just search for parts catalogues.

 

Etka covers my whole car, being a VW, but if you want to cover all the little ford bits, perhaps the Ford system would be better.

NO! the software in question is called ETKA, it's the electronic parts listings for VW where as the software your on about is the VW equivilent to the TIS, ETKA is available on the net from several sources if you know where to look or who to ask for a copy!
