NikpV Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Following on from the recent post where I mentioned that autoglass replaced ours about 2 weeks ago with no problems. That was fated - driving up the A14 yesterday it developed an irritating kncking from the passenger side, upon examination it appeared that the fitters had broken one of the clips holding the passenger side 'Scuttle' (black plastic shroud which goes under the wiper arm). Prising it up revealed a lump of black mastic holding it on. Wife phoned autoglass customer services today at about 2pm and they arrived from the local branch just as i got home tonight. The guy had come armed with some clips which as he tried to fit were obviously the wrong type as he was fiddling I noticed that the black protusion from the bottom of the scuttle was broken - after he decided that the clip didn't fit I gave hum the scuttle and asked him if it was alright without showing him, to his credit he did point out that it was broken and asked if the screen had been replaced before - he then said that autoglass would replace the scuttle - no prompting and got straight on the phone to TC Harrison the local Ford spares dept. We will see what happens next :) Quote

tim-spam Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 When my wife's Merc had a screen replaced a couple of years ago, I watched the job being done. All trim parts were literally ripped off with no care whatsoever - it was only due to the quality of the Merc parts that it all went back together in reasonable shape. Quote
NikpV Posted November 20, 2006 Author Report Posted November 20, 2006 well they came out and replaced the scuttle panel and new clips - rock solid now. Eventually did a good job :P but what bothers me is that it needed me to be on their case - if not I expect we would have more black silicone gluing it together  Quote
