Interior Door Lock - Illumination

I have a 02 registered 1.9 TDi Ghia Galaxy. On the drivers door there are two illuminated switches for locking and unlocking all the doors. There appears to be a loose connection on one of the switches because the light flashes on and off sometimes or is not on at all.

 

I asked the main dealer about it - whether they could check for a loose connection or replace the bulb - and all they wanted to do was replace the whole switch panel including all the electric window switches!

 

All I want is to get the switch illumination working - so can anyone advise how the switch unit can be removed from the drivers door so I can examine it?
