Dickie3068 Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Got up yesterday ice and snow all over the car all heaters worked, front screen cleared and so did the mirrors great I thought then I then looked in the rear view mirror and the rear window was still frozen solid! Any ideas on how to check the window as all fuses look OK Quote
Guest VR6! Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 usual checks are for voltage at the connectors on the edge of the screen and then check the condition of the loom where it passes through the rubber bellows to the hatch! can you hear the relay kick in when you hit the button? the fuses may look OK but remove them and double check them to be sure! Joey Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Sorry to hijack the thread but my rear window has three 'lines' which don't demist. It's not a huge problem as the others compensate after a while but I was wondeing if there was any way of checking these and repairing them? Cheers Quote

It was basically electrically conductive paint. You had to look closely at the lines on your windscreen, with a magnifying glass in my case  and look for a tiny break(s). The paint was then put on the break with a tiny model brush and hey presto, if it was the only break, it worked again. Try your local car factors or the internet. Obviously, no one would be stupid enough to try it on a front screen......would they ... :( Quote
