What actually is required for a post to be added to the FAQ's? is it that some one has got off there butt and took a pictorial record of what they had to do to complete a job? for example seatkids how to replace a pollen filter :D or is it that someone has posted a couple of sections of the TIS and has no experience of how to do the job but can operate a PC as in the latest how to remove a bumper, all very good and helpful but does it warrant adding along side topics where people have suffered for the good of other members! maybe there should be a set requirement for the content of topics before they are added?

and before the huh if you have nothing nice to say brigade pop up :D it's practical experience that counts in my book, those that can DO, those that cant teach (nothing personal Nik, you know what I mean in this instance ;) )

no personal offence taken - I have demonstrated my ability to 'do' and have worked in several 'professions' - as an engineering technician, designer, design draughtsman, heat and ventilaton fitter, 8/10 of a PhD (I'm not that keen in writing it up :D ) in chemical engineering all in my 30 years at work - I have settled in my present profession - teaching - for 2 reasons a) I don't get bored every 4/5 years :D it pays for the mortgage, if I could try something else and still provide for my family I may be tempted. I'm good at teaching apparently - as a profession it has changed since you(or I even) were at school and whilst there are still some who I have little respect for still in the profession I am impressed with many and know that the skills to do it are not in everybody - unfortunately everybody has been to school and thinks that qualifies them to comment/ pass judgement. You may value practical skills but to be able to fit/repair a lift someone has had to sell that kit, finance the factory that makes it etc

From my point of view adding posts to a faq is just putting links to useful posts in one place - for example the bumper bits posted today - somebody needed to know how to - quickly so its useful to have a link quickly to some instructions.

Some people need (or will only attempt) some instructions others will have a go a something and its useful to know any gotchas beforehand.

Perhaps the term FAQ is not correct here but trying to collect the links to posts is useful for others, having read most of the posts made here since 2003 I can often remember that a post has been made but can't always find it, the search facility here does seem a bit hit or miss so its easier to have the links in one place.

I don't think that inclusion in the faq is an accolade to the original poster :D ;)

no, but in some cases praise should be heaped on those that have gone to the trouble of posting a pictorial epic on how to strip out a dash, stip out an AUX heater and replace a glow plug, these people work from the same info that other members have access to and which in some cases is still poor! and yet they take time out from a difficult job to take pictures and notes for the benefit of others :D in my opinion these guys deserve some form of recon-ism! so here's some flag waving for those guys http://www.smaxownersclub.co.uk/forum/images/smiles/uk.gif and a sign to say thanks http://www.freedomtrailriders.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/heresyoursign.gifhttp://www.freedomtrailriders.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/yourock.gif

and for the cut n paste merchants http://www.freedomtrailriders.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/sign03.gif

happy to give accolade but calling somebody lame for helping indicates how far your skills fall short of being able to teach anybody :D :) :D
