El Dingo Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 A Saab mechanic I know showed me a neat trick for changing the chain without massive disassembly - he basically split the old chain and connected it to the new one, then manually cranked the engine around, ensuring that the chain stayed partly wrapped around the cam drive sprocket. I wonder if this would work with the Ford engine? As the camshaft sprockets are side-by-side, might be hard to keep everything in synch... ;) Good advice for keeping the chain in good condition - change the oil regularly, especially if your car is lightly used in cold weather (the dreaded school run), or is used in very dusty conditions.
