Just got the GAL back from the dealers, it was in gettign an intermitant starting problem sorted, they replaced the " power hold relay" dont know the relay number. anyway i get the car back and the climate control panel is flashing on start-up! it wasn't before! i have check this site and although people seem to say that it's not a problem it does seem to indicate an system fault. i will be contacting the dealer today any advice on what i need to tell them to sort out?

thanks

It flashes when the is a fault condition detected by the CC unit. Most commonly this is a regass but if when they were doing any work and disconnected a unit, this could have triggered the alarm. When they connect their computer to the car, the fault code will be read off and if it was just a connection error, they will clear the fault code and all will be well. If the fault code is something else, they will need to tell you what it was and what needs doing.

I once had this and the fault code was a "speed reading" error (yes the climate control takes in speed information) caused during a service.

ive had this happen a few times at fords ,

and they say its way the battery as been disconected

if it still dont go after a few hours, take it back and get them to clear the fault codes :D

i would think it needs to be re gassed

just back from dealers!!!!

they said that they have been on phone to the Ford tech people. and the dash has to come out because they think something has fell of the back?

i have just checked the CC and it is not functioning the fans still blows when the CC is on low but set it to anything else and you get nothing.

is it just me or is the fact that the GAL was in getting a relay replaced the day before mean something fishy is going on. (intermitant starting problem)

could the relay change have blown the CC somehow?

what can i expect from a dash out job. i.e will the dash rattle for ever more?

i am expecting this is a warranty issue but it depends on what they find when they strip it down?

WEll since it was fine when it went in, and wasnt when it came out..i wouldnt pay a ruddy thing!..i would get them to foot the bill rather than claim on warrenty. As they have done something which has caused this by the sounds of it..Spanner in the works maybe???

hi

had the same problem,

mine was fine before fords had the car in for a side airbag recall

came back with cc flashing

said not to worry

but hold the phone was fine before i thought

to cut a long story short

one of the tech,s had drilled in to a wire in the aux heater, and thats what caused the problem

hope you get it sorted :P

Your car shouldn't be worse when it comes out than when it went in. End of. If it is, they need to fix it to an as good as or better condition than before they had it in their care. Get it in writing from the dealer principle or general manager that they will correct their errors without cost to you and then make them do it. If they won't do that then threaten them with trading standards, RMIF/SMMT, motoring press etc until they fix it at no cost to you. Getting it done under waranty isnt good enough as they caused the error.

I have been searching the forum and the dashboard out sceneario seem to be one to avoid! even though i

wont be doing this job what further problem could i expect from a full dash out so that the frauds can get to the CC unit. will the dash squeek and rattle for ever more? plus the electronics that will be moved about during the operation worry me! can i ask for a VAG-COM print-out after the job to show me that everything is faultless? can the VAG-COM diag be faked. i.e could they cover up any new problems?

i think i am becoming paraniod! but i am finding it hard to give them the benefit of the doubt since they have already messed up the CC by changing the power hold relay.

i would go back to the ford branch and ask to speak to the dealer principle

and take it from there

also speak to ford customer care, and open a case with them if your not happy

when it happend to me they ask me to take my care to a different fords.

thats when smc sorted mine out

Just had an update from the dealers.

they have stripped out the dashboard and the problem is the A/C flap value (not sure of actual name) they have ordered a new one and it will be rebuilt tomorrow.

i have aske dthat i get a copy of the vag-com print out for the car after the repair is complete. i want to see that there are no other faults showing! what indicators should i look for or ask about. ie. if i talk like i know exactly what they have done then i am likely not to be BS'ed

so far the dealer has been very very helpful, yes this is being done under warranty but at the end of the day all i want is the GAL back in A1 condition.

i have order a VAG-COM from ebay and i will keep an eye on htings myself from now on!

which is the best TIS or diag info disc to get?

My CC panel has flashed ever since I bought the car, aircon has always worked fine and I have never had any trouble with it. Recently I had to remove the dash panel and in so doing I had to disconnect the passenger airbag, I started the car without the airbag connected and then the airbag light wouldn't go out even when I had replaced the airbag. I realised this may have been due to a stored fault code so I asked a friend with a garage to hook it up to the diagnostic machine and clear the code for me. It was then I discovered that the CC had a stored fault code which was "low pressure switch activated", I asked him to delete the stored code (I had had the aircon regassed nearly a year ago) and hey presto the CC panel has not flashed since. The point is that the CC panel stores any fault codes and will continue to flash even when the fault has been cleared unless the diagnostic fault is deleted, so make sure they do this or it will be flashing forever.

MAD! i am boiling ! i called the dealer today (Friday) at 4:30 to check on the progress, the value was supposed to be arriving from frod in the morning and the dash would be put back by th eend of play! they told me the part didn't arrive! of course leaving it untill late on a friday wasn't a nice start to the weekend! i blow my top! they offered me a car....a fiesata!!!! i said why do you think i drive a galaxy! will 3 child seats in it! anyway the part will now be there on monday!!! i will phone an check first thing or maybe every hour!

question for someone....

if i am having the "diverter/flapper" valve replaced should the system be regassed as a matter of course during the rebuild? or would changing that part not effect the sealed systemed? i want them to make sure it would require any matainance for a long time!

No IIRC the valve/actuator in question is on the outside of the unit

I believe the valve your on about is the one on top of the heater unit to the center of the dash/picture!

I know i dropped my contact lense down the air vent but where did it go :D

Snap!! Why did you need to remove your dash VR6?

The problem with losing your contact lens or glasses is that you can't see to look for them until you have found them!!!

not my dash :) I borrowed the picture off Nicks topic on how to change a heater matrix  although mine has been out as the heater matrix went! but I took the soft option due to work commitments and let someone else do it :D

No, should be nowt to do with it. That's an air control flap in the ventilation system.

I'd ask for a re-gas anyway as a gesture of good will for leaving you without an adequate replacement vehicle over the weekend! But I'm a cheeky b'stard and want more than I deserve most of the time! :(
