AndeeeH Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 Finally got a bit of sunshine and a relatively clean car to be able to take a pic of my new C-Max. Really impressed with it upto now, very solid, very quiet, a great driving position and very economical; 50mph @ 1500 rpm = 53 mpg. Bugger to keep clean though!!!!   Andy
AndeeeH Posted October 30, 2006 Author Report Posted October 30, 2006 how roomy ? Hi Nik, well its obviously not in the Galaxy league for overall room but as its over a foot shorter and only a 5 seater it does well enough. It is a little wider than the Gal with all 4 doors having a 4" wide flat top making great armrests. The front headroom is under an inch less than the Gal. The 3 rear seats are split 40/20/40 and in the Zetec and Ghia the middle one folds up and back allowing the two outer ones to slide back and inwards giving more leg and shoulder room. In normal back seat mode there is still greater minimum leg room and headroom(a few mm's) than in the Gal. All rear seats have 3 point retracting seat belts. They can also fold flat, tip up or be removed to provide more luggage space. With the middle seat folded flat it provides an effective barrier between my 12 and 7 year old boys who normally occupy the rear!!!! It would probably be a push to get 3 child seats across the back but 2 would be no problem. The luggage space in 5 seat mode is greater than New/Old Galaxy and S-Max in 7 seat mode and in 2 seat mode is greater than the others in 5 seat mode. I did a little experiment and got 9 full Tesco carriers flat on the boot floor in 5 seat mode(who needs the VDA method?). Lots of cubby holes and a large glovebox provide room for all the usual odds and ends and I think there are 6 bottle/cup holders dotted about the place.....oh! and the 2.0 TDCi is good for 125mph!!!! ;) Andy.
NikpV Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 thank you for the detailed reply probably be a push to get 3 child seats across the back umm thats scuppered that then how about two boosterseats and a child seat ??

Might just do it if one of the booster seats was one of the older types without the bits that stick up on each side to hold the seat belt down. The two outer seats have the provision for the ISOFIX brackets, the latest ones have side and full length curtain airbags, it is the first car in its class to achieve a 4 star Euro NCAP rating for child protection and the interior has been passed by TUV and the British Allergy Foundation as providing an allergy free environment.(Well thats what the brochure says). :D Andy.

AndeeeH Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 like the cmax m8 looks nice been looking at them, when our focus is paid up next year like it  Hi Gooner, thanks for the comments. I sat in a new Focus at the same time as I was looking at the C-Max. The driving position in the C-Max is a lot better, more upright like the Galaxy, and the dash mount gear stick seems better too. Rear seating is more versatile(see post 4 above). Focus might have a bigger boot though and there are more of them to choose from and probably a bit cheaper. Just before I got mine I spoke to a chap who had had a brand new C-Max for two weeks after previously driving a Focus(dont know which Mk. or model) and he said the C-Max was much more comfortable especially doing the M'way miles that he does. :D Andy.
