faz Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Hi allIt was suggested recently that the probable cause of my airbag warning light being on was a faulty clockspring,I have now done a vagcom check and fault 00588(airbag ignitor resistance too high intermittant)comes up,when I clear this code it returns straight away, does this confirm faulty clockspring or perhaps point to something else. Guest VR6! Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Iwould say yes, duff clock spring! if it's broken and has overlapped then it will have intermittant continuity but at a higher resistance! hence the fault code you have! either that or the plug to the bag is loose and as you turn the steering your disturbing it? Vanbursta Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 One thing that might be worth bearing in mind is that if there is a fault detected then the airbag computer keeps a record in memory and will keep giving the warning light until it's erased (VAG COM can do it), so even after you fix it you will probably still get the warning light until it's reset.
