Calling in Glen is the ultimate in terms of Mod priveledge and clearly you guys have pushed Maz to the limit. Time to back off and let things settle down. Thanks Maz for doing a really good job. Come on you orrible lot say thanks to Maz she may just have saved us from losing the forum if this had got any further out of hand.
NikpV Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 having kept an eye on that thread I think that Mumof4 had it in hand and with the exception of some language 'issues' did not get out of hand, I think that she could have closed the thread and the regular posters here would have supported her. It had started to stagnate when glen closed it. With the exception of one or two callow ill thought out posts I can see no discredit becoming attached to the forum.
mumof4 Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 The thread in question was starting to get beyond me as i have little knowledge in either political or religious issues.I called in Glen as i was not sure if i had reason enough to close the thread as i believed it was starting to go pear shaped, and under our own guidelines we as mods have to jointly agree on whether to close an active thread, As i had posted my views on that thread i felt caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.I needed assistance so i asked and got it,...There were some very strong posts in that thread that someone reading, could easily have become very offended by.It was as you must admit getting very heated.You can see that, it has carried over to the subsequent threads that have been started and posted on.

Sorry Neil, Nothing was getting out of hand, we are not children us members. Why do you say we could have lost the forum?
Guest neil_wiles Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Seacam Your thread posts and replies and everyone elses replies in the veil debate were getting ever closer to a racialist taunting thread, we and certainly Glen could not afford for a public forum to be accused of promoting racilist views in either direction. If this had continued then it is feasable that the forum could have been closed and as moderators and admin the three of us would have been held legally responsible for the threads in the forum. There has been a test case in law where the moderators were succesfully prosecuted over the content and actions of the forum they were moderating. Please dont put us in a position where we are forced to act to prevent a repeat of this.
