Mark W Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Last Christmas I had a council lorry driver drive straight into my then 6 month old Galaxy  and the Galaxy proved it could take a front end crash will fairly limited damage, I was told by the dealer that the front end is like the old volvo Quote
Nick Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 From what you describe it can olny be a function of the a/c compressor, or it's magnetic clutch? You say they changed the air con unit which must be the compressor, and that's the only 'moving' part in the system. You may need to get somone to help you locate the drone to be sure. It may be that when they changed the unit they did not refil with the right amount of air con oil! Quote
Mark W Posted November 1, 2003 Author Report Posted November 1, 2003 Thanks Nick,I will mention that when the car goes in next week.Regards,Mark :) Quote
Guest dmc Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 are you sure its not just the cooling fan operating,as these can be quite noisy. there is a delay when switching the ac on,and then the fan kicks in,and it is a droning noise. Quote
Mark W Posted November 2, 2003 Author Report Posted November 2, 2003 Thank you DMC,As with Nick Quote
Guest mstraxs Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Hi Mark Must say I have been getting the same noise from my AC for a while now. I can only reallt notice it when in traffic as when going at speed it is drowned out. Personally I think it may be something to do with a lack of gas or something as I have never had mine recharged or checked out. Mind you in saying that it still works if you can stand the noise but I will get a refill and find out if that cures it. Mark Quote
Mark W Posted November 3, 2003 Author Report Posted November 3, 2003 Hi Mark,I had mine refilled two months ago, the car was a year old this june just gone, but saying that I use my air con all the year round, for demisting etc. I use to be a grease monkey, till I had a accident in work which has left me in a wheelchair, and I hate funny noises, but now I can't do nothing about it and I have got to leave it to the dealers, its dame frustrating, when you know that the dealers get the car in and it sits around for a hour in the workshop do naff all, then they come back and say sorry sir, we can't find any problem.Sorry glad I got that off my chest. :) Regards,Mark :) Quote
