Guest seacam Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 hiya all,,, my mobile is now almost 4 years old <_< , and i think its time to upgrade it...the choosing of the hardware is no problem,,, but what network??? and how on earth do u compare all the different price plans! anyone into these things got any advice? In case you didnt know - i hate mobile phones, and i only have one because i need it. MJR Hello Matt, One man's mobile operator is another man's-----. Are you PAYG or contract. I'm with Orange buisness, ( 12 years ) so is the wife, I find them superb except when they screw up, which fortunatly is not often. All my older children are with Virgin or O2 except the two eldest who have just moved over to Orange contract, my 13 year old, who fancies himself as the next Bill Gates, ( told us first ), wangled a contract however he has been so responsible and I've never had a problem, but the kid is a genius so he'll end up owning the network or the bank anyway so no worries there. Listening to them all as far as tarrifs are concerned I've kinda gathered for PAYG Talk it's Virgin, for PAYG text it's O2. I don't know who your with but if you tell them you are considering leaving, see what they will do to keep you. Word of caution, Upgrading, for a long while now all the operators have been moving people over to 18 month contracts, if you have a phone contract of 12 months you can keep it but make sure they know this from the outset before they tempt you with any tariff or new phone. Guest MATT jr Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 thanks seacam. im currently on orange, pay as you go... so theres no contracts to worry about. i would like to stay on pay as you go, as my monthly usage varies considerably, and i also like less complication. people i have been talking to,,, have suggested virgin, t mobile, o2, or vodafone. vodafone can be struck off - because they dont cover my home area. so,,, o2, virgin or t mobile. iv spent the last 2 hours going through the websites, and i do like the sound of virgin mobile, although t mobile comes close. i dont like most of o2s phones, and those i do like are too much money (budget Quote
Guest Gurugal Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 If o2 have the coverage you require you could do worse than check out Tesco Mobile. They do a value tariff that allows you to make calls and send texts but not to access the web - and it's cheap. If you spend around Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 lol not fused what nationality they are,,, although that explains the french adverts by orange. just had a look on tesco (as you suggested),,, there cheap, but dont like the style of the phones. once iv bought one, it will stay with me for another 4 yrs,,, so my aswel get one i like lol MJR Quote
Guest HairyPlateEater Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 their rates to other virgins are very cheap,,, 3p txts, 5p a min. -- they also do bundles, making it cheaper to call non virgins! There's a joke there somewhere Matt!! Virgin piggybacks off T-Mobile's network, so whatever T-Mobile's coverage is, Virgin is the same. Tariffs depend on what you want out of them. I'm on O2 PAYG text tariff where I get 300 free texts and 1Mb free mobile internet for Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 so thats why t mobile and virgin are so similar... virgin do offer free voice mail though. the bundles are also carried forward to the next month, if you dont use all of them. like this one and this one thanks HPE --- seems that virgin/tmobile cover almost all of Britain,,,, and more importantly, chesire and staffordshire. MJR <_< Quote
Guest HairyPlateEater Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Guess thats another vote for NTL Telewest then ...... Telewest built and monitor T-Mobile's fibre backbone and some cellsites and we've just bought Virgin Mobile! Where's BigJeeze when you need to start a debate ....! lmao Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 LMAO ur kiddin! next you will tell me ntl is owned by aston martin, whos owned by ford, whos owned by GM, whos owned... MJR Quote
